I am thinking about doing some of the Yoga workouts. They look really good and I think it would be a great way to start or end my day. I have heard that you should not eat for 2 hours before a Yoga workout. Is that true? If so, why?
Hi Amy:
Yoga is a great way to start and end your day - it is destressing and energizing at the same time - and yes you are correct. you should not eat before your practice at least one hour if possible - if you must eat then eat light - yogurt or fruit. The reason being that in yoga we do alot of breathing as well as postures that clear the digestive track and the internal organs - you would be more comfortable in some of the postures with an empty stomach. This also allows the energy to move freely though your body. It is best to be comfortable so that all your organs can benefit from the practice.
Glad you will be joining the rest of us yogis.
Good Luck,
Katie
